Once again, she found herself being woken up by Gray instead of Melissa. Groaning she rolled out of bed, and pulled on some sweats and a loose shirt before making her way out the door and towards the coffee shop. The wind blew in her face, causing her black hair to go across her face before settling down again. It was to cold her liking but luckily she had a jacket and Azuki wrapped herself in her leather jacket. Gray kept bringing her to the same place each morning, especially after she had run into that spoiled brat and John. Not that she scared about either of them. But Gray seemed to think she did.
Sighing, Azuki pushed herself into the store, knowing that Gray would follow her. It was just that simple. No one could get rid of the gray wolf, not even her own father. He tried many times before he left her. And still failed. Azuki sat down at a chair, close to the window in the store and ordered herself some hot coco. In this weather, hot coco was the best way to go.
Soon enough the waiter came back with her hot coco and Azuki gave the female a small smile before sipping at her drink. The she remembered Gray and got him some food before she settled with her hot coco and thought to herself.

The day was going slow and cold. It was snowing lightly outside, make the streets dangerous, and the world so soft. A brown hair older teenager had appeared out of the doorway of a high financial business place. He looked both ways, as if debating on where to go. That is when he saw a figure sitting right on the side of a large window enjoying a nice cup of something. His heart instantly started to pound, it was her, the girl from before. He immediately started walking toward the store without a second though. He didn't know why, but he felt he could trust her. That she could help him somehow. He pushed the glass door open, and an electronic bell rank welcoming the new guest. He immediately turned to the black haired female. He looked at her dog, yes it was her. Who else could it have been? "I-I..."
was all he could say before turning red. he shook his insecure thoughts off. He clenched his fist and still red face he asked her, "May I join you, madame?"[/blockquote]

She heard the bell ring through her ears, but it didn't come to her that it would be someone that she'd know. No, she didn't look up. Why would she? Most of the people she ran into became of no interest to her. Especially the spoiled brat she had walked into a few days ago. Such an unpleasant little girl. So spoiled. So rotten. It annoyed Azuki down to her core, and now that she was alone it was simple. Sighing, she took another sip of the hot coco the waiter had brought to her when she heard a male voice. Looking up, Azuki's eyes froze on the male. It was John. The male that had been with the spoiled brat. "Ummm... Sure." she said, studying him. He wasn't acting like that sick lover boy when he was around the girl, but more like himself. Well, she guessed that was it. Looking away, Azuki looked down at her cup, "What brings you here? Where is the spoiled little brat? I doubt she'd let you come around by yourself with me in town." she said, a small smile forming on her lips and a chuckle escaped her throat.

He was glade she agreed to let him join her, he slipped into the chair that was in front of her next to the window. He looked toward the window first, he watched as a car passed by and then a small group of people. He made a small sigh and turned to look at the girl as she started talking, wanting to know why he wasn't with noel. He didn't want to talk about that, it isn't that it was a touchy subject, just he didn't even know the black-haired teenager's name. "You know we never formally introduced ourselves. I'm John."
he put his right hand forward, formed a smile on his face, and his freckles seemed to show strongly now. He didn't know if she would accept the sudden change of subject, or the posture. However he could hope, that she will.
She seemed really relaxed just sitting there, a nice and peace of quiet. Then it wasn't always quiet in the city, when there was not arguments or battles. The food and supplies seem to come out of nowhere, except from oak's farm far out in the country, however that was about it. It actually surprising that there was enough gas to run cars and transportation, though the gas was ten times more expensive, for fear of running out. Not to mention a lot of people found other-ways of getting around like bikes, horses, and more often then not, walking. His Father was taking extra precautions to make sure everyone was happy and able to live. With all the law that were in place, unreachable. It seemed as if his father became the new president or possibly even King of the city. He and his helpers just ran the place to make it keep going and not start riots. He knew his Father knew something was out there, but he had little idea of how much his Father actually knew. [/blockquote]

When he introduced himself as John, and outstretched his hand for her. Azuki looked towards his hand, before looking up at his face. With a smile on his face, Azuki couldn't help but sigh and return his offered her hand with her own. When their hands touched, she felt warmth. Something she really didn't feel anymore, and it shocked her enough to remove her hand back. Slowly, her left hand went down to Gray and she ran her fingers through his fur.
"It's nice to meet you John. I'm Azuki and this is Gray." she said, and the gray wolf lifted his head up to look at John. If Azuki trusted this man, then Gray would to. It was that simple. "You never answered my question John. What brings you here?" she asked, her unique eyes looking up to his.

He was glade that she had accepted, he felt his smile grew, but slowly shrank when she pulled her hand away to pet her dog. He knew it wouldn't be long, but at least he now knew her name. Azuki, so pretty so unique. "You have a very unique pretty name, Azuki."
he said complimenting her. She then pressed her question ignoring his comment. He sighed, looked down at the table, then looked up into her magnificent blue eyes. "Well to be honest, I was just minding my own business when I saw you through the window. Decided to pop in to say hello, no biggie, friends?" he said it so normal, like this was a normal conversion, well it was, yet it wasn't. he felt odd, like it was meant to happen. Her hands felt a tad bit cold, like they needed his warmth. He honestly wished he could do more for her.
He looked away, toward the shop. It smelled so warm and like that of melted sugar and vinall mixed it. He began to wonder why he had never noticed it before. Was he just always so busy doing work for his Father, a personal mindless person for Noel. and a pretender to his friends? Was his whole life nothing but a busy lie? Why does he keep playing with it, he suddenly found his thoughts were turning into a way he did not want them to. He shook his head, not knowing if Azuki had said something or not. He had buried himself too deep into himself. Maybe this was why he stayed from other people normally. The truth always hurts more than the lies.[/blockquote]

Hearing him say that she had a unique pretty name and a light glow of red crossed her cheeks. But it quickly vanished when she felt her face getting red from the light blush. "Thank you. Not many people know my name. You should be lucky I even trust you." she stated, taking another sip of her hot coco. She felt the heat from her face vanish and Azuki was back to herself. No emotions on her face, just the same Azuki. It was so easy for her to hide all of her emotions. Living on her own for so long, she needed to learn quick and fast before she got hurt. But something was telling her to trust John. To let him go through one of her boundaries.
Blinking, she looked up to him as he talked about being friends. Slowly, she nodded. "Alright, friends it is." she said, a small but playful smile forming on her lips. A friend. The first one in so long. It felt nice, very nice.

It had taken him a moment to realize what she had said, but when he did, a huge smile formed on his face. "Thank goodness, to be honest, I thought you were going to say no."
When a silence held, his smile faded to a normal look for him. The red that formed on his cheeks gradually dropped, he decided to take on a more business mode. His posture changed, to that of meaning and thought. He looked at her with a serious expression, on that meant only business here and now. He knew she had questions, he knew she wanted answers. Well, not that many answers or questions. As a deal, he made a mental note to himself, no as a friendship. He will tell her anything that she asked, no matter how daring it was. The total truth, here and now, of what he knew. Only if she asked, if she did not ask the right questions, he would not give her the right answers. For this was a test, to see how much she knew, as well as how much he knew.
He once again looked out the window, at the tall building, that his Father's business owns. At the building he occasionally works in, on certain times and days of the week. The place that gives him the money to own his own apartment and home. The very place, that was suppose to be preparing him for his future of the city. Where would he take it? Would he be willing to nominate himself to get votes and attempt to be mayor? Would he do it like his father wanted? Or just live his life a mindless married slave? What will happen next few years, when Noel decides to quit her pathetic teenage life and move on? Or was it the wish that was stopping her? He once more looked back at Azuki, the professional coming through. The eyes of a businessman. "Ask anything, and i will give you the very answer to the questions you ask. Just know one thing, if you ask a wrong question, I will answer it the wrong way. Take this as a true meaning or gift, of our friendship. For no other friends of mine will ever receive this sort of treatment. Consider yourself lucky." it was almost as if he changed personalities altogether, without changing at all.[/blockquote]

Azuki smiled over at him and chuckled. She could see his mind working, thinking of what she would say or do. It was amusing to her. Leaning back against the chair, Azuki set her coco down and gave him a look of pure interest. Something that not many people were able to get out of the Sterling daughter. She was surprised that John was even able to get it out of her, and this was the third time he had even talked to her without that spoiled brat around to ruin the interesting conversation. For once, Azuki let some of her old self come out. Something only Gray was able to see.
"Do you love that brat? I mean, as a lover? Or am I seeing it all wrong?" she asked, giving him a playful little smile. She leaned up towards him, her pale face close to his. "Cause to me. Right now, you look like you don't love her more than a friend. But when she comes around. You're a sick lover boy." she stated, before sitting back in her chair.

It seemed as if she let herself relax a little, letting her true-self show. Still a tad rough around the edges, but much more willing to speak. That was what John was noticing. He was glade she felt more relaxed and seemingly to trust him. He asked her the first obvious question, did he love Noel. The obvious quick answer would be no, the complex answer would be yes, but no more than a close friend. Almost like a sister, one that he would not like to lose, but one he would not mind walking down a church to be married to another man. He looked at her directly, so she knew what he was going to say was not the a lie. Not the complete technical truth of the whole situation, but not a lie. "I care for her only as a friend."
he spoke in the out most business-like man-to-man tone, that he could ever create. Actually almost sounded like his Father, he knew not if he was proud of that, or upset. A few mixed feelings and lies there, he rather not explore them in depth. Depth is what is going to get him in serious trouble in this city, with his knowledge and power."So what is your next question?" he asked making sure the conversation carried on.[/blockquote]

She knew his answer without even asking the question. But she still wanted to hear it from his personally. It seemed much more easier than having to guess, even though she was fairly good at it. Hell, as a young girl, Azuki was able to tell what was happening to her father before he tried to drag her away from Gray. It was like she was able to tell what someone was thinking without really realizing it. It got her into trouble with the mayor and the city so many times, that it became a habit for the police to watch her whenever she came into town. Not that it bothered Azuki. It really didn't.
"If you don't love her, then why don't you tell her?" she asked, watching him carefully. From what she was able to tell when the brat was around. John became a mindless puppy that had gotten lost and was looking for its mother, but instead found another that the puppy believed to love him or her. But in John's case. Him. Azuki looked down at her hand that was on the table before she looked out the window, and at the building across the street. Her black hair fell from her shoulder and covered her face, hiding those eyes. Hiding her emotions and expressions from him. She didn't trust him fully, but she trusted him enough to be friends.

He made a thoughtful expression as he tried to figure a simplest way to describe it. He knew he had to give the short immediate answer, yet he felt that he should tell the whole truth. No, he must keep it only short and simple. That was the deal, and he will not break this deal. Not even to a girl he started to have a growing crush on. He toke a deep breath, before starting his explanation. He acted like it was going to be long, his eyes said it was going to be long. However it was a simple, "I can't"
, and nothing more. How great to keep things short and simple. The longer version would be the prom night, the odd wish, the sudden overcoming, the mental fight, the nightmares, and so much more. Though her question was not the right question, so he had no need for the long and complex right answer. Who knows, maybe she already knows the answer, deep down. This however he had doubts. [/blockquote]

When he said that he couldn't. Azuki looked back at him. She locked her eyes with his and studied him for what seemed like minutes, but was only a few seconds. Azuki knew he wasn't telling the whole truth, but then again. She hadn't asked for the whole truth. Just a simple answer. "You can't or you won't?" she asked, her voice growing soft. Soft like a feather, but hard enough to pierce your skin if necessary. Azuki knew something was up, but she couldn't figure it out.
"Tell me. Does this.. Girl.. Always act like she owns everyone?" she asked, twirling the empty cup on the table. "I mean, honestly, I think she needs to be taught a few lessons by someone older than her. Like myself."
Post by Noel Rayburn on Jan 27, 2013 15:54:12 GMT -6
He could tell, she could tell, that he was not telling the whole truth. He knew what was coming before it even came, when she spoke it he sighed and answered clearly. Stating the same thing as before. "I can't, as I said before."
he honestly meant it, he can't. He has countless times before. He knew things dark things, yet nothing at all. It was funny, actually. There were something he choose not to do, but this specific thing, he knew he just couldn't. Like there was something totally stopping him, as if he had no control over his mind of body when it is even around it. He also felt that if he spoke her darker secrets, he would go out of his way to free her. As if some false love would pull him to do the most craziest of things, to make her believe, he was in love with her. He knew, that she knew, it was some sort of spell. However she let's herself believe in the petty lie, for the truth was just so much harder.
He was glade, Azuki, spoke again asking the second question. He thought of the answer, he knew back then she had acted the same way. However it had goten a tad worse, when she gained that power. Whatever that power may be. This however was not the right question, for the right answer. "Yes, she has. " She continued on with her second question, while he was thinking, so he quickly added, "You can try.' as if she even had a flick of a chance of changing Noel. He knew it was not the rough way, but rather her heart. He always believed that, it just seemed sometimes, what he believed was not the whole truth, either. He had however learned things about her, that no other would have learned. Though, she was not really talking to him, but rather to herself. This for some odd reason made him think back to the voice he had heard, the voice that told him to never let her find out, else the city will pay. He knew not what sort of problem it would cause, but he knew the voice was wise in someway. Yet, it seemed to have taunt him at the same time, to say it to here in a letter or something. However from what he known about her through her friendship, she was not the sort to just sit there, she would scream and attack without thinking. She would cry and mentally break down, she was the sort you wished to just tell them to stop and make them think. Who will not listen, no matter how much you wield it. A challenge, was just that. A challenge.[/blockquote]

Azuki took in all of his answers, and thought about them. He said he couldn't tell this girl that he didn't love her the way she wanted him to. Was it because of the spell, or whatever he was under that made him believe he was truly in love with the girl? Was it because he was to kind-hearted to hurt the girl in the first place? Was that the real reason? Azuki closed her eyes before she looked out the window. It was such a strange, but understanding answer. It was so easy, and had meaning behind it that was telling Azuki something she couldn't completely understand. What was it that kept him from telling the girl the truth?
Blinking, Azuki removed herself from her thoughts and turned her attention back to John. Right now, he seemed relaxed, almost business like as he answered her questions. Was it that simple? How could he be so relaxed when she was asking her questions about the girl he was supposedly in love with? "You believe that I can not try to change this girl? To show her some meaning her life that could actually prevent her from having no friends. No true love." she stated, her voice growing rough, but soft around the edges. Like she had just grown older than what she looked like to John.
"Tell me John. You believe that I cannot help this girl, when in all cases, you've only met me twice. Now, what makes you so sure that I can't help her?"
